There was an undertone from my care provider of a scepticism about recent trends of increasing rates of people self-describing as transgender, which made me somewhat uncomfortable. It was largely couched in the language of 'we don't know why this is happening' and presented as curiosity on the surface, but it sounded a lot like the 'just asking questions' you get from some of the smarter 'transmedicalist' types. As a result it felt as if I was being poked and prodded at to be tested for if I was just lying to be trendy and that my carer may be biased against providing me with care, which was unpleasant.
