The overall care I received from the nursing staff was very good. There were some nurses who were more interested on catching up on Coronation Street on their iPad than attending to the needs of insomniac patients, but most were very helpful and attentive. The food was excellent, but the portion sizes were too large. I gained 2 stones in weight in 10 days! Dr Bradbury was a very challenging character to deal with. I was an informal patient, but was threatened that I would be physically overcome and medication would be forced on me if I disagreed with her medication choices. I made a complaint about being treated this way and waited for 2 months before I received a response. It was only when I said I wished to drop the complaint (because I felt my mental illness was being used against me) that two days later a letter arrived. Coincidence? I think not! I discharged myself without their consent and resumed medication that I was prescribed before staying at Cygnet. My mental health is steadily improving and my CPN agrees that Dr Bradbury's methods were Draconian at best and more likely unlawful. I do not have the energy to pursue the case any further, which is what I believe their delaying tactics were aimed at achieving.
