This hospital is wonderful !!! Four times you have saved my life and given me many extra years without pain or suffering. This time it took many hours waiting to diagnose my condition BUT there were many more needy people than me, and I do not and did not expect the whole magnificent NHS to be waiting for my arrival and drop everything to attend to my sudden but minor discomfort. There is an intensive full-time programme of surgery and treatments for which those patients arriving at A&E are just the extras. It is worth remembering that before considering making ill judged and generalized criticisms. Moreover, your diagnosis was correct; you kept me in and operated the following morning, no doubt displacing someone to whom I am grateful and who should also not complain; and I was home the next day, with hardly any discomfort, no post-operative infection, and five weeks later the realization that a continuing nagging problem had gone forever. Great! Again! For anyone who has any doubts or fears I can tell you that the teams I have seen are superbly organised and managed, all utterly caring and kind, very competent and utterly dedicated. Every service and resource was provided in a timely and correct manner. Also, the beds are comfortable and the food is superb. We should be grateful to everyone. It's not everyone who has such a hard job and exacting schedule. One of my night nurses went home only to deal with the aftermath of a car accident and get no sleep before returning, cheerful and selfless again to look after me. Bless you and thank you all. PS We can and must afford the National Health Service. If only we could deal with government financial mismanagement elsewhere ... that's the proper target.
