I am 63 years of age and went to the local A&E after a fall, believing I had sustained a serious injury to my ankle. The receptionist, doctor, porter and radiographer could not have been more professional, caring, respectful and efficient. Unfortunately the triage nurse seemed detached, uncaring and robotically completed a form with less interest and obtaining less information than the receptionist. My interaction with her left me feeling irritated and had it not been for the quality of the other staff, I would have left with a negative impression of the hospital. Medical staff at the point of contact have a vital role in the manner in which people are treated and if this importance is not instilled in nurses, perhaps they training requires adjustment. Overall, I was happy with my treatment.
