The only thing I was disappointed with was the fact I wasn't given the full or correct information regarding a private room. I requested one from my midwife appointments yet I was told to ask once there for having my baby. When I arrived for c section I was told first night I'd have to stay in a ward but will look into it for next day. The next morning I asked and was told you don't do it, only hold the rooms for emergencies. It annoyed me as I could of gone private or different hospital to have my baby. Especially when the first night I am in a ward with screaming babies and can't sleep after a major operation!!! The midwife support though was good, breast feeding support was good too. Just not fair on the rooms situation. So because of this I had to discharge myself the next morning after a c section, even though I wasn't recovered!!
The care I have received after the care of my baby has been great consistent and the staff that have come to my house have been lovely polite explained things to me involved my other children and keep up the good work that u all do
Our midwife (Janice) was fantastic. She came three times after the birth of Molly and spent a great deal of time with us, teaching me how to breastfeed and my partner how he could be involved. She was the first person who actually spent any time with us, showing us (as first time parents) what to do. Despite spending one night in James Cook Hospital, I was not shown anything by any of the midwives there. They were all very pleasant and professional, but none showed the individual care and the hands on approach as Janice did. Being told to hold your baby like a rugby ball to feed her is not remotely the same as having someone show to how to do it. Janice was not limited by time, reassured us, answered every question we had and has helped us gain confidence.
From the beginning of both my pregnancies to giving birth and beyond, I have received a fantastic service from my community Midwives. Both Karen and Deborah have given me such excellent support and advice throughout. It has made such a difference to my whole experience knowing they were there to help me with anything I needed to know. I trusted them completely and felt very at ease around them. Thank you so much for everything you have done for me and my family.
I had a fantastic homebirth experience. My midwives Sarah Yea and Karen Duck were wonderful, they put myself and my husband at ease and interscted well with my 4yr old to keep her involved and calm.
I didnt feel pressured to follow any instructions or specific guidelines, I was encouraged to do as I felt comfortable. I used gas and air for pain relief.
Once I had delivered my son, the cord was left to pulse at my request.
After delivery my husband and I were left to have skin to skin contact whilst midwives cleared away all the towels and pads etc with nothing other than personal washing for us to sort out.
Midwives completed their checks and quickly left us to enjoy our son.
I would highly reccommend a home birth as a relaxed and calming experience for all of us.
Having met several of the community midwives l am pleased to say that they are all extremely helpful and friendly. I can't think of anything that I was not happy about.
Fantastic care! Very impressed.
All the midwifes were very caring and knowledgeable which as a new mum was very reassuring. It was great that I never felt they were rushed allowing me to chat about any queries I had. I was pleasantly surprised at how much time they had available to spend with me. I cannot rate you all highly enough. THANK YOU!! x
Antenatal clinics at my doctors surgery and antenatal classes at the Friarage have been very informative and helped me feel confident and re-assured about the birth and preganacy of my first baby.
