Nicky, the district nurse who visited me after discharge from ROH was a godsend. She gave me useful tips and increased the dosage of painkillers following my discharge too early. I was in excruciating pain on the evening of my discharge and it took me an hour to get upstairs and a further hour to get into bed. I should not have been discharged so early, it was cruel and it was against the advice of my consultant. There was disparity between the information provided by the Consultant and Pre-Op Assessment doctor and the actual discharge event. Sue, the OT who was called in by the district nurse to help me was charming. She provided invaluable tips and exercise advice. Both she and Nicky, the district nurse were a real asset to my recovery and were so very kind and understanding.
