Generally the care was good but I think for first time mum to be we tend to be over-anxious and might need more assurance and care therefore the way we are communicated or told news it is important for the midwives to understand the consequences or how we would interpret it due to lack of experience.

I felt that I had very good care in the postnatal ward. Most staff were very attentive and came straight to us for aid when we needed it. The night nurses were very experienced and got baby off to sleep when I was struggling. They checked in on feeding/ latching on/continuous crying etc. There was a good set up for getting out of bed to get meals. Only one member of staff refused to help when I needed assistance getting breakfast. The room was very good, with my own en-suite, set up to suit my needs. The TV in my room was broken and it would have been nice to pass the time waiting to be discharged with a little telly. I was very tired on the day of discharge after getting little sleep, so I did feel that I was given a lot of information all at once and found it hard to take it all in. It would have been better to have been given some of the forms by the midwives throughout the first week so I could look at them gradually and digest the information as I found time to read. On the whole I was very pleased with the care I received in hospital. From admission to be induced right up until discharge (especially in the delivery suite with the wonderful midwives I had).
