It has taken me many years to ask for help, with my depression. I am now having doubts, that the system will help me. I did not feel that the person I spoke to, really listened to me and he seemed to have pre conceived ideas about me. For example; he assumed that I had been self medicating with drink or drugs. He came to this conclusion, because he had accessed my medical records and noted that I had been to A&E, twice over the last 6 years. I must admit, I didn’t realise that twisting my ankle and 4 years later breaking my wrist, meant I must have an addiction. When I assured him that I did not and never have, he said it was highly unusual for someone of my age. I now assume, his assumptions are on record and this disturbs me greatly.

Suggested improvements
Please don’t make assumptions. Listen to the patient. Remember how hard it must have been to ask for help. I may be a cynic, but I’m aware that you could put my feedback down to the rantings of a mentally ill person and I very much doubt my opinion will matter.
