I was first assessed by Tim Cook, Extended Scope Physio of MATT. I am not including that in my feedback above as that interview was very odd. He maintained emphatically that my pain was psychological ("There's a lot of fear in this room") and over ran the appointment to the extent that the empty waiting room I left was overflowing when I came out. He referred me only for knee strengthening physio. I had an excellent service thereafter. Whilst waiting for a physio appointment I called in to say how incapacitated I was and was given an appointment that same week. Thank goodness! My physio, Jess Holmes, made a swift fresh assessment and easily diagnosed the problem, then worked to help me strengthen my left side. Jess was really excellent at explaining things to me and showing me the exercises. She was always prompt and friendly. Hence 5 stars. She also emailed me when I left a message checking my exercise (one or two?), the first week. It was great to be able to check something else by email later on. I once worked with an NHS physio who would print out the exercises, pictures and text plus number. That would be ideal and probably time saving too. No more forgetting what a physio said regarding the precise directions. That after all is what it's all about - if we don't do the exercises properly at home it's not going to work, I also had 6 sessions in the gym. I was delighted to see my progress there and enjoyed the good facilities. More place to hang winter clothes please! It was good to have different staff at different sessions as each had a fresh contribution to make regarding how to undertake the exercises... I had a set back during one session. A physio in the gym told me out of the blue , "You have scoliosis!" This was a shock to me so she did book me to see Jess about it. It was too bald and minimal and affected my morale for a day or two. Everyone was very friendly otherwise. I also appreciated the calm, relaxed atmosphere in the whole physio area and the pleasantness of the reception staff, who suggested this questionnaire when I thanked them.
