The level of care received on the Dixton Ward was unacceptable. We appreciate that it is busy but patients shouldn't be neglected while the staff are standing around having a chat and eating chocolates at the front desk. We had to ask twice to have the urine drainage bag emptied, it was full to the brim. We found most of the nurses to be quite disinterested and dismissive. When my partner raised a concern that despite the catheter, he felt desperate to have a wee and that perhaps it wasn't working correctly, the nurse was very dismissive and unhelpful. Shortly after he ended up weeing the bed which was extremely upsetting for him. He was made to feel that it was an inconvenience to ask for things that should come under basic care. In all honesty, the nurses didn't appear to be rushed off their feet whenever we were visiting which made us feel that these issues were not down to a lack of time.
