Attended A&E this morning with a gynae related issue and was impressed with all the staff. Was attended by Dr. Gemma a GP who was caring and compassionate as well as being incredibly knowledgable and explained things clearly and and with tact. She was a real credit to our junior doctors. The nurse, Flavia was also lovely. I don't like needles so she asked me whether I wanted to know what she was doing and then proceeded to talk me through what she was doing and how it was going. She was friendly, caring and professional. The porter, Ian who took me to a different department was also very thoughtful and caring - every bump was announced so I was ready and he was a genuinely nice guy. When I returned to A&E, a male nurse whose name I didn't catch welcomed me back in a very cheery manner. I couldn't commend the staff highly enough. Working in the NHS myself, it was lovely to have such a positive experience. High praise to those mentioned above. They made a very scary experience a lot less scary and I was very reassured. Thank you. My room was clean and well maintained. The WC was however not the best cleaned and there was blood on the seat and no hand gel.
