I was a complete mess when I felt first spoke to my counsellor. I cried a lot but she gave me the time to cry, didn't judge me and worked through my issues with me. Over the weeks the crying stopped and I started to believe I was as important as anyone else - family, friends, even strangers. We talked through some strategies for dealing with my issues and, whilst those specific ones didn't work for me, I was able to come up with some of my own. Visualisation was a game changer, a life changer even, and every time I started to feel bad again, I could visualise these 3 very specific personal scenarios which helped and supported me through. Whilst I am still working through these issues (maybe for a while to come too), I shall be forever grateful to her for giving me the tools and resources, and confidence, to believe that I am important too, I do matter! "It's gonna be ok, I do deserve it, I can do this"
