Good experience with the virtual consultation
The group session today was very helpful, it was good to see other people in the same position as I am, working together with our exercises where great to do. Kim was great at explaining everything to us and she lead the session just right.
aLl good
Video consultation with Kim was relaxing, informative and informal (in a nice way). Kim allowed me to say what I needed to say, was a good listener and provided lots of suggestions to help manage my arthritic pain.
Very efficient and helpful online treatment
Sarah Joyce, The Hand Therapist, is obviously an expert in her field.
She inquired about pre-existing conditions, and was obviously interested.
1) She described the current break in my finger and demonstrated the exact placement using her cursor on the enlarged x-ray.
2) She was careful to point out the possible complications of "landslide" injury and
possible surgical repair if further injury occured.
3) She demonstrated and encouraged me to exercise my hand/fingers without
putting force on the affected area. The purpose of exercise and gentle massage
to the finger 5 times a day, at this point was to keep the finger mobile and reduce
swelling. It will be re-evaluated and progressed over the course of the next 3-6
weeks.
4) She suggested that I apply heat to the finger instead of ice, several times a day and
keep it 'buddy-splinted' to the adjacent finger.
5) She advised me to continue with paracetamol if needed for pain.
I am very happy with the service I am receiving at the moment, I feel Kim speaks to me about my injurers in detail and helps me to gain my confidence as I do my daily exercises. I have come a long way from the beginning as I couldn't move any of my fingers when I first started physio now I am gaining strength in my fingers and my wrist. I would defiantly recommend persevering with exercises and ask help from your physio, as she is so helpful.
I was sceptical about whether a virtual appointment would be worthwhile but am very pleasantly surprised. Becky "knew her stuff" and was very thorough and informative. I feel she asked sensible questions, examined me by asking me to do different exercises/stretches whilst watching the results and gave a knowledgeable programme of going forward.
I think meeting in person will always be the better option but having a virtual appointment was certainly not a waste of time.
Thanks
I think the interest in care was marked across the departments coupled with their knowledge and professionalism.
I had my first video call which was very successful for myself. it saved a lot of time, and cost/fares going along to the hospital. (It is, of course, nice to see you all).
The physiotherapist was able to look at my legs as I have arthritis in my knees, run me through a few exercises and give tips and I was able to ask any questions about anything that was troubling me.
An unexpected offer of going on a zoom call or attending a local health club for a Lower Limb Education & Exercise Class.
At the moment, I can’t suggest on better care.
I really like this virtual class I found the class very helpful and each step was easily explained,I learnt a lot and I look forward to the next class many thanks
