At the end of 2015, I was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma at the base of my tongue. This diagnosis felt like a horrendous black tunnel ahead of us & yet it proved to be one through which we were confidently & gently guided by the staff in the oncology department at Addenbrooke’s. Everyone appeared to work together as a strong unit whether it was the radiotherapy & chemotherapy teams, the dieticians, the speech therapists or our Key Worker. Their patience, clarity of explanation & positive upbeat manner made the whole journey more bearable & we no longer felt alone when faced with the unknown. True professionalism delivered with a smile. Thank you Addenbrooke’s!
