Difficult to get through, difficult to get an appointment, have to phone on the day or go into the surgery - bit tricky if you work or have children to collect at 3pm (afternoon opening time). Registered online to try and make it easier but my details are no longer recognised. Always see a different doctor so you can never build a relationship with your GP and you repeat your case history every single time. Last time I visited, we were rushed out of the door in less than five minutes resulting in a misdiagnosis and the wrong medication being prescribed. Unhelpful if you have an emergency - receptionist refused to even ask if someone could look at my son's finger to advise me if it was broken so I knew whether to take him to A&E or not. Had to fight to get a referral to hospital for a year for an operation for treatment. The GP we saw was extremely rude and basically told us we were making a fuss about nothing. When we finally got to see the paediatric registrar my son was referred for surgery immediately.

Response from Woodingdean Medical Centre

Dear Patient We regularly review all comments that are posted on I Want Great Care as well as welcoming both verbal and written communications into the Practice. As a Practice, the experience you have is important to us and we want to meet your needs the very best we can. We do have a regular core of doctors although we have been trying to fill one position for some time now. Unfortunately, as I am sure you are aware that, there is a national shortage of doctors who are looking to become either a salaried GP or partner. We are hoping to fill this position as soon as we can. In the meantime we endeavour to fill the gaps with locum doctors. We try where possible to have locum doctors who have worked at the practice before. I am sorry that you have had less satisfactory experiences with us. Perhaps you can give me a ring over the next few days so we can discuss the problems you have been experiencing. We are always open to constructive suggestions so we can improve our service. We would like to reassure you that we take these comments very seriously and where improvements can be made, action will be taken. Practice Manager 01273 307555
