When you actually get to see a Doctor the level of care and support is high, it is actually getting an appointment that is the problem, especially if you work full time. You are unable to make an afternoon appointment by ringing in the morning, yet when you ring in the afternoon they are all full, even when you ring bang on time. I also assumed that booking an appointment for the future would mean ringing on a Monday to be seen on a Wednesday, rather than 6 weeks in the future. I was told that if i wanted to be seen after work I should go to a walk-in centre, even though they would not have the complete information to hand to treat me!! This system does not work at all for people working full time. It also will not work for the NHS as the walk-in centre's will become increasingly crowded and the likelihood is they will refer people back to their GP's. It should not be so difficult to make an appointment.
