After 6 years here’s my experience: It’s probably time to shut up shop and call in the private sector. The incentives seem to be based around delivering a worse service than the year before. Impossible to get an appointment unless you are unemployed, retired and/or have unlimited time to wait on the phone and keep up with most complex and unhelpful booking scheme ever. Millions (presumably) on a new surgery few years ago and I have never been able get an appointment since. I have to pay for private GP each time. I sometimes imagine the team meeting where this GP team is pleased the new booking system is working as they have fewer patients and are providing a worse service. Recently went and asked for a flu vaccine and reception happily informed me they had opted out of providing such low brow services — outsourced to some halfway house up the road, no money in it presumably. The only thing this place does is send me endless text messages that I can’t stop — misleading and wrongly advising me about covid vaccines. Presumably these are profitable. In the nicest possible way, I suggest you get back to medicine and call in someone who wants to work in the service industry.
