Last night I was out with friends and the topic of GP surgeries came up. I sat listening to horror stories about friends inability to get appointments and rude receptionists. One friend said that her doctor did not make eye contact with her throughout the whole of her consultation. I am aware of the huge pressure on GPs at present and several local surgeries have closed for new patients. Despite all this the GPs, nurses , paramedics and receptionists at St Lawrence surgery are striving to give patients the best care possible. Yes it is difficult to always get an appointment at the time you want with the doctor you want, but we have to realise that this is an unrealistic expectation considering the crisis surgeries are facing. I am on the Patient Participation Group (PPG) and a patient with a long term condition who has had two serious health scares. On each and every visit to the surgery I have received excellent treatment and been treated with respect and professionalism, When I was fast tracked with a Cancer scare I also experienced kindness and compassion. I felt really lucky compared to my friends who were jolly envious when they heard how well we are treated at St Lawrence in comparison so I want like to say a big THANK YOU to all the staff who are working so hard in difficult circumstances.

Today l suffered a nose bleed whilst getting up (8.30am). It was a trickle that went on for over half an hour. Checked on line nhs advice rang surgery.told to come down Straight away. Was seen by gp straight away, nose examined and treated (dr.stokes) given advice and Cream to apply four times per day Can this service be bettered Graham westcott cca..

Was on time but had to wait in Que but by the time we had been seen by the rude receptionist she said 'she was leaving now if we didn't mind as we missed it and the nurse had left'
