Please do not assume that just because you are a doctor in a deprived village that you are better than your patients or that they are unintelligent. My wife was told by a doctor this evening that "all my emergency appointments this week have been taken up with children displaying the same symptoms as your child. It's just a virus". Sadly, this comment is typical of many of the doctors at this practice. Not only is arrogant and presumptive, it is deeply unprofessional. We do not present ourselves or our children at your surgery on a whim, we understand that winter virus' are common. However, we also believe that when our six month old daughter is not sleeping, vomiting frequently and coughing and wheezing that an emergency appointment is appropriate. If you want broken legs, myocardial infarctions and meningitis to deal with during emergency appointments perhaps you should have considered a career in A+E.
