When phoning in the morning for an appointment it has taken up to an hour or more before the call is answered. Most of the Receptionists are polite and helpful but there are one or two who show their stress at this time and are somewhat short tempered. We patients are under stress too and often feeling very unwell. Mostly we do not deserve the person at the other end to be short with us. Each party should give a little more thought towards each other to help alleviate some of the angst.
The red practice surgery is probably the best one I’ve ever been to since I was a young child.
The reception staff have always been really helpful and I find I never have to wait that long to make an appointment.
The two doctors I see, Dr. Tilly and Dr. da Silva are fantastic - knowledgable, thorough and welcoming and the wait time is always so short, even on busy days.
I’m so happy I am a patient at this surgery.
My only criticism would be a few of the community midwives that practice out of the clinic (I appreciate they are under ‘st Peter’s hospital’ vs Clinic staff so the practice probably can’t do much about this) I didn’t get as much information from them as I was expecting during my pregnancy and some of the appointments felt like ‘tick box’ exercises and a little impersonal so you felt like you didn’t get much back when asking questions.
Worth noting in case there is the ability to feed this back to them via the practice.
Even though it is still quite difficult to get an appointment with specific doctor the fact that you now have a queuing system on the phone is huge improvements as at least you know you are in the system and will eventually get to the front of the queue. The old system where you had to keep trying and getting the engaged tone until you eventually got through was nightmare. So well done for the improvement you have made
As somebody who works full time within healthcare, it is incredibly frustrating to not be able to book an appointment, when needed, on the day or even the day after. I cannot call each morning on the off chance I will get an appointment as I have to be in work for 0830 meaning I leave home roughly around 645am. Very inflexible approach to those who work!
Although it can take an age to get through by phone after 8.30am, it's great that an appointment is almost always available the same day. My GP (Dr Da Silva) is always helpful, polite and attentive, and never makes you feel like you are wasting his time. The reception staff are always friendly and polite.
Difficult in a building of this type and age, but the decor is a bit miserable and could do with freshening up. It all feels a bit dull and institutional.
The Red Practice digital screen (announcing who's next up to be seen) is useful but, without a voiced call, it means you have to keep your eye on it all the time. This makes things a bit stressful, especially if you have a long wait.
Waiting times are usually fairly short, but I did have a one-hour wait on my last visit.
