The one thing I find disappointing is that there is no clock in the waiting area for patients to refer to. I did write to the Practice Manager regarding this and the response was that due to a survey that said having a clock would cause anxiety to patients they decided against having one and also the patent group thought it would ruin the flow on the wall!!!!! If I wanted to know the time I could always ask at the reception desk. As if they were not busy enough!!!! One was in the reception area of the old practice so why not at the new one.

Response from The Bromley Common Practice

Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry that you are still frustrated by the lack of a clock in reception. As I explained in my letter to you nearly all our patients either carry a mobile phone or have a watch, and our reception staff have the time on their PCs and telephones. The reason for not bringing our old clock to our new premises was due to the fact that around the time of the move some research was released which found that having a prominent clock in waiting rooms actually increased stress and anxiety as people tend to focus on them. Obviously this isn't something we want for our patients, and after discussions with the Patient Participation Group, it was decided not to have one on display. All our clinicians do their upmost to run to time so that patients aren't waiting any longer than necessary, so hopefully you wont be in the waiting room long enough for it to become too inconvenient.
