This is a community practice, which is obviously very busy. I find the staff always attentive and well organised, courteous and efficient. There is a gentle and positive atmosphere. There appear to be good relationships between colleagues at all levels/types. I can always get an appointment at short notice to see a doctor, though am often disappointed that I have to wait up to three weeks to see my own doctor. However, I think the policy of 'book on the day' is a sensible and useful one. Generally speaking, I have found this to be an excellent 'family surgery', and the doctors have been great with my children, and with me. However, I do have a concern about some doctors and the practice nurse not seeming to remember how important it can be to speak directly to children, even young ones, in the potentially intimidating context of the surgery. All children are vulnerable and likely to feel more so when poorly, or when a stranger sticks a needle into them without reassurance. These early visits to the doctor and nurse are formative. They understand a lot at an early age - taking your clothes off, for example, in front of a stranger who hasn't even bothered to say hello, can be extremely discomforting.
