It is very important to understand that Montalto Medical Centre is in no way responsible for the disgraceful current state and poor administration of the NHS in Northern Ireland. The entire staff from cleaners, receptionists right through to the GPs deserve credit for delivering a competent service in such trying times. I found that the current telephone system (once you actually get past the inadequate switchboard) of speaking to a receptionist, ring back by a GP for diagnosis, follow up appointment when required or referral to a Consultant if needed to work extremely well in my experiences with Montalto since the start of the pandemic. It is a much better procedure than the previous regime of turning up at the front desk to be told you couldn't get an appointment with any GP for 2 to 3 weeks.

Suggested improvements
The initial point of contact is well short of satisfactory with an antiquated telephone system that requires dozens of unsuccessful calls before you actually get placed on the queue. Surely in this technological age a switchboard capable to handling the current volume of calls should be introduced as soon as possible.
