I was hoping to book an appointment online via the website. I looked in to this and I was asked to print and complete a PAPER form to sign-up for the ONLINE appointment system. This was a huge barrier for me but I did it anyway. It was quaint thinking about to how things used to be when the WWW was new in 1997, but in 2015 things should be better. Can you imagine having to complete paperwork prior to to signing-up for Gmail or eBay? I telephoned to get an appointment. I confirmed when asked that it was not a medical emergency and was offered an appointment at 8:30 in 3 days time - perfect. It was obvious on arrival for the appointment that I should use the self-service sign-in, which was very efficient. The signs were very clear about where to go. In my case I was seeing a GP so I went up one floor to the 'red waiting area'. The lift arrived quickly and again, it was very well sign posted inside that I needed the first floor; someone had taken the time to put colour coordinated signage throughout the building - including the chairs to match the 'zones'. I did have a quick look at the fibre waiting chairs. Although comfy I have my doubts about that fabric being a completely suitable on an infection control level as they can't easily be cleaned. Not a big issue but a point of consideration. I was summoned promptly for my appointment at 8:30 by Dr Rawdah, a GP trainee. He seemed a nice enough fellow but could improve the patient experience by being a little warmer. Still, he was clearly clinically skilled and able to provide advice on the issues I'd brought to him. One point to feedback was Dr Rawdah examined a mole on my back, and touched me without gloves to do this and did not use alcohol gel. After touching me however he immediately used alcohol gel. No disrespect by I'm far more likely to catch something from someone who works in primary care than you are from me (an office worker!), so next time please use gel before and after :) No hard feelings - I would be happy to see you again Doctor. The surgery has a Co-op Pharmacy integrated downstairs so it was very easy to collect my prescription. The invitation to take FFT was clearly displayed in the surgery but I felt I'd rather go online to give a detailed review. Out of all the GP surgeries I've ever used in all my 34 years this is the best. The building is modern, convenient, clean and the staff appear generally friendly and clinically competent. Thank you.
