It has always been difficult to get an appointment at the surgery or get through on the telephone, however since merging with another local surgery it is an impossibility at least 50 mins to even get through and when you do no appointments left or you just constantly get the engaged tone , most of the receptionists are rude and unhelpful with the exception of maybe one or two, having worked as a gp receptionist for over 5 years it is a tough job however that does not give you the right to be rude and insulting to patients you are their first port of call and they should be made to feel comfortable if your not able to be kind you should not be a receptionist.

Suggested improvements
Employ more staff to answer the phones, retrain the current receptionist to be helpful and kind , offer more pre bookable appointments, and employ more doctors
