Although my actually appointment did get carried out. I was greeted by the Nurse where I had booked for a blood test at doctors request and a smear test. The nurse then said you are here for your smear test I said yes and a blood test. She says no I don’t have time to do bloods this is a smear test apt. I explained I had asked reception when I booked to have both done together at same apt. Well she says this apt is 20mins and I cannot do both so which one do you want. I said do the bloods I will re-book the smear test. Nurse proceeded to take my kidney function blood test. After she took bloods she looked at the clock and said I have a little time left I will do your smear. I said okay but now I was made to feel bad that I had tried to get 2 things done in one apt which I did not. I feel staff need to listen to the patient more this was not my error in booking and I did offer to re-book but basically being told I can’t do both choose which one you want is not acceptable. I am grateful the nurse did eventually do both but that could have been handled so better.

Suggested improvements
Listen to the patients and try to help not accuse them of doing something wrong or not listening. The practice continues to move its goal posts all the time with rules constantly changing about booking appointments and who can book what appointments etc. it’s very confusing for the patients. The patients should just be able to book a future apt with a GP not have to be told you have to have a telephone consultation first. Since the pandemic the systems that changed have never gone back to normal and I would just like to be able to book an appointment to see a doctor when I need to. I understand urgent appointments are different but for something not urgent and can wait I want to be in control of when I see my doctor not have to have a telephone call
