I was disappointed today that Lime Tree Surgery have a policy not to post anything to patients because of the postage cost. I collected a letter for my mother who cares for my father who has Alzheimer's Disease; it is better that he is not left at home alone. My mother asked me to collect her letter which was not a problem for me. However, what I object to is that there does not appear to be consideration, from Lime Tree Surgery, towards my mother as a carer. She is now needing to ask the family more and more for help which we don't mind giving in the slightest. Wherever possible I want to make my mother's life easier to cope with so that she has the strength to carry on looking after my father. Obviously she is having to ask more and more for family help, sometimes its really difficult for all of us to ask for help continually and it must be for my mum. If the surgery had just considered this and popped her letter into the post then it would be one less thing that she would have to ask help with. I would like Lime Tree Surgery to think hard about how carers, who are also patients of the practice, are looked after - including stretching to the cost of a stamp to make life a little easier for her. I was also concerned that when I collected the letter, that confidentiality was not maintained because it had not been put into an envelope. This is not the professional standard that I expect from Lime Tree Surgery. NB - I was unable to proceed with this review unless I selected the stars above. However this section is not applicable so I have just gone for the middle one. Please ignore this selection.
