It seems to have become practically impossible to get an appointment/treatment from these doctors these days. For a normal appointment you need to give 2 weeks notice, for a contraception appointment you need to give 6 weeks notice. I needed a repeat prescription for my contraception medication and couldn't wait 6 weeks so I had to attend the walk in clinic where I sat for 1 1/2 hours to be seen for no more than 5 mins and handed my prescription. Upon taking my prescription to my local chemist I was informed that this medication is now discontinued and that I would need to contact the doctor to get a replacement. I called the surgery at 10.30am and was told that someone would come back to me once they had spoken to a doctor. By 5pm I had made 3 phone calls to the surgery and still didn't have a replacement prescription. I know that the doctors are busy but so am I. I also appreciate that appointments are valuable these days so I always try not to attend the doctors unless really necessary which is why I get repeat prescriptions sent straight to my chemists and I will request call backs instead of coming in. But what is the point of doing that to give the surgery a bit more breathing space when you are not going to get the same level of treatment/attention that every patient deserves. I have been a patient with these Doctors before they merged into a Medical Centre and the service was much better then. It seems to me that the Medical Centre has more patients than it can handle.
