I needed help with pain relief from ongoing dental problems after the dentist referred me to my GP for this as they couldn't prescribe something suitable. My GP said the GMC policies don't permit this (after speaking to the GMC, this doesn't appear to be true) and I was left with no alternative than go to hospital. Not once was I given an opportunity to speak either directly to a triage nurse or GP. The end result was as a patient, I was let down badly with no advice or support and no one willing to help. As I didn't visit the surgery, I cannot comment on the cleanliness of it.
