Appointments system has failed 3 times in a month (that I know of, it could be more!!) This morning my husband and I made over 200 speed dial calls, trying to get an appointment for our daughter - when we finally did get through, the appointments system was down & we are expected to call back in an hour. We both work, so this is not as easy as the receptionists seem to think - but we were told there is nothing they could do. Whilst the staff are generally great, this surgery needs a systems overhaul and an urgent IT upgrade!

I find the receptionists very unhelpful when trying to make an appointment for my husband. Felt very rushed to get of the phone . May need more training on communication skills !!

I have called up today to make an appointment for something that could be rather serious and was told that I would have to wait a week, the last time I needed an appointment for a small rash I had to wait 10 days and in those 10 days the rash had grown ten fold. The other option I was given was to call every morning in the hope of getting an appointment. I explained to the receptionist that I couldn't do this as I have to book cover for my work which she didn't seem to care about. And I was told that those were my options, it's no wonder that A&E departments can't cope because I will be going there tonight after work as I can imagine a lot of people will when they get fobbed off by the flawed system they use that only helps benefit cheats. I will be looking at moving doctors as this isn't good enough.

I have been w patient for over 10'ywars at this surgery and on the whole had a good level of service. I experienced one incident involving a doctor not diagnosing me correctly until my own GP paid me a home visit and remedied the situation by referring me to hospital immediately. That was a few years ago. Last year a different doctor handled a misunderstanding quite unprofessionally in my opinion, causing me undue embarrassment and no apology when she realised the information concerning the incident was innacurate. I won't name the two doctors concerned it doesn't seem appropriate. However I will name my own GP who is amazing and I feel lucky to be his patient. Dr Fowler is a popular doctor and in my experience the best GP I have ever been treated by. A very knowledgable doc with a lovely manner with patients and I honestly have a great deal of respect for him. It's actually a pleasure to go to him as he always makes me feel like I will receive the best care he can provide and he just listens and doesn't rush me. He is very patient with me and actually has a personality beyond the standard doc speak. I can't say enough good things about him and no he has not paid me to be so complimentary! I almost don't want to publically acknowledge how great he is in case it makes it even more difficult to book an appointment at short notice as this GP tends to get booked weeks in advance! Dr Fowler has been the most efficient, reliable, welcoming doc I have been fortunate to have known. I actually make friends jealous who don't have such a positive experience with their local GPs;)
