There's hardly any experience of dealing with the reception at this surgery that can be described as positive. Today my sone (9) was vomiting and suffering with a high temperature. NHS Direct helped as much as they could over the phone, but said they'd contact the surgery to see if an emergency appointment could be made. An hour goes by, no call from the surgery. We call them to be told "we don't accept email requests from NHS Direct" Under pressure, the receptionist says she'll check to see if there's someone available and will call us back. An hour goes by, no call-back. I drive to the surgery (6.15pm) - it closes at 6.30pm The waiting area is empty. The receptionist tells me that the duty nurse has instructed that our son goes to A&E. I ask - is she refusing to see him as the surgery is empty but still open - Answer: she is busy with other work so you need to go to A&E..... He's a child with a high temperature, is this your final answer? Yes, I'm afraid so, the nurse won't see him.
