It is extremely difficult to get appointments even when there is an urgent need. If one can't call at 8am, one can't get an appointment. The reality is that people would like to visit the GP for non emergency cases and most times you want to plan in half a day to 1 day in advance of the visit. I might feel ill this afternoon and book an appointment for tomorrow. The surgery should allow for appointments in advance.
