My appointment with Nurse Natalie for blood test and blood pressure reading this morning was excellent. However at the end of the session she told me that an appointment I had booked with Dr Grimstead on 20/3 for 4pm on 05/04 was not showing up on the screen. Checked with the Recepionist who confirmed the appointment was not registered. This was an appointment I had made specifically in person with the Receptiont at the surgery on the afternoon of 20/3. The Receptionist went to consult a colleague on 2 occasions and finally reported that the appointment had been ‘cancelled’ approximately 1hour after I left the surgery. This cancellation had not been done by me, neither had I been informed about the cancellation. We were fortunately able to rebook an appointment for 5.15pm on 05/4. This process took in excess of 20 minutes with the Receptionist and I would applied her for her diligence. However a large queue had built up at Reception during this time with no support available for the Receptionist which was somewhat concerning for a number of people. Having had open heart surgery on 07/03, discharged from hospital on 14/3, there were a number of questions I wanted to ask the doctor , particularly in relation to my discharge letter, something that the aftercare notes from the hospital recommended one should do. Having finally been able to make the appointment only to have it cancelled by the surgery without notice was somewhat disturbing.

Discussed with me / informed me why you had summarily decided to cancel the appointment
