A few years ago I would have recommended this surgery, to all friends and family. Unfortunately that is not the case now. It's very difficult to get an appointment on the day, unless you have time to sit and redial the surgery number from 8am for 10 -15 minutes solid, and then when you do get through there are often no appointments available. Most patients like continuity but trying to see the same doctor twice is almost impossible. If you are lucky you may be able to book an appointment online in advance but they are very few and far between. When I do get to see a doctor, and I only go if I really have no other option, I feel a bit like I'm on a conveyor belt. Get called in. What's the problem? Goodbye. There is no time to discuss anything if it's not specific to the reason for attending the surgery. The notices say if you wish to discuss more than one thing book a double appointment or come back again. Getting one appointment is extremely difficult let alone a double. Doctor Iqbal is a nice doctor but I always feel rushed with him. Doctor Hanna is a lovely doctor, makes you feel like you're not wasting her time speaking to her.

Response from Gold Street Surgery

Thank you for your comments. We regularly review our appointment system. We have recently recruited two new salaried GP's, and have recently changed our Nurse Practitioner appointments. On-line appointments are available for GP's. Unfortunately we are unable to provide this service for nurses as the length of their appointments depends on the procedure required. We make a number of appointments available for on the day booking but, at the toime of writing, it is possible to book a routine appointment as far ahead as the end of January 2016, or this weekend at Saffron Walden Community Hospital. Thank you
