I have never had anything but fantastic service from all of the staff at Fern House, however they are under increasing pressure with all of the additional patients registering with the surgery from the new Maltings Estate. The sheer volume of patients to capacity of surgery is completely unrealistic and in my opinion is going to result in an inability to continue the level of service currently provided. Already it takes anything up to 45 minutes to even get through to a receptionist to make an appointment, and because of the volume of appointments needed, it is highly unlikely you are able to get an appointment in the near future and have to ring back the following day for an emergency appointment. This is not the girls on receptions fault and I feel considerably for them as they are the people who bear the brunt of people's frustrations. In fact all of the staff, the dispensery, GP's and therapists are nothing but professional and helpful, but there is only so much one person can achieve in one working day. I honestly think that a review on building a new surgery at the far end of town near the new estate is now a matter of URGENT consideration before the staff members end up having to take leave of absence through stress and illness themselves.
