I’m lucky not to have to use the surgery regularly but when I do it is adhoc so has to be one of the emergency appointments given on the day. The last few times I have needed one, all appointments have gone by the time I get through… calling at 8.30am and going straight in a looooong queue, I have then been referred to 111 to be triaged for them to then send the surgery a message saying yes she needs to be seen today, then to get one of the other appointments available that have now magically appeared. The process just seems to waste time of all involved.

Suggested improvements
Why can’t I’ve triaged by someone in surgery in order to cut out the middle man…111… they can then prioritise rather than wasting 111s time?!

NHS 111 is a national help line to make it easier and quicker for patients to get the right advice or treatment they need, be that for their physical or mental health. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
