I like that I can book an appointment with my GP in advance so that I can fit in visits when I'm not working. I like that I can see the same GP who I have seen for a number of years and who feel that I have a good working relationship with. I have confidence that I will receive the best treatment available. If I have what I regard as an emergency I am able to speak to my GP over the phone if he's available or visit the surgery to be seen by another doctor at the end of surgery if he's not. If I need a blood test, I would like to be able to arrange that after seeing the doctor and have it done at the surgery. I usually only need 1 blood test a year and have never been able to get this done at the surgery as they are so booked. I wasn't very happy that a receptionist wasn't able to inform me whether the other surgery in the same building which my husband attends offered blood testing or not. I work in a Post Office and am expected to have basic peripheral knowledge of lots of other institutions.
