Getting through on the phone is near on impossible most the time, thankful I live close by. Best walking there to make an appointment. I can imagine patients who live further or have mobility problems would find this infuriating Getting an appointment - TERRIBLE. Need to be quick on a Monday morning, it appears appointments are just offered on this day. You do not have the option to book for another day anymore from what receptionists tell you, or its constantly fully booked, so you basically have to wait for however long until your lucky enough on a Monday morning to get through and book one, and in situations where your condition/aliment can get worse keep your fingers crossed it doesn't or have your bag readily packed for A&E. Its unlikely you will see the same doctor again. You won't get "your" doctor where you'd grow to know eachother which is ideal for getting the right treatment, a good understanding and feeling comfortable in these appointments. With a different GP every appointment, you are at risk on having a rude, misunderstanding or patronizing stranger which has happened plenty of times & on the same token you will get a fantastic, understanding GP that makes you feel comfortable and at ease then never see them again. Last year was a rare occasion as I saw the same doctor quite alot and I was finally getting the right investigations and understood better as it was followed up with a familiar face who would mostly remember your situation and have a treatment plan. Unfortunately he left! they seem to just come and go.I ended up in tears on "follow up appointment" with another new face as he did not understand and disagreed with the treatment plan that my previous GP and I had discussed. Hit a brick wall! He did go on to apologize and understood my frustration but I can imagine this being a real issue for alot of people who are having ongoing investigations done. The amount of blood tests, prescriptions and referrals that have vanished into thin air is ridiculous, I suggest anyone using this surgery constantly check up for updates and double check again. Or maybe even again, again and again. I've been reassured that a referral happened only to find out it didn't after not hearing anything for months. Its disgraceful. I also had a phonecall from the hospital recently asking how my son is doing on his new medication - what medication?? Had not heard a thing! Following on from a blood test it had been requested he started medication, but nobody had contacted me from the surgery in the months since he'd had the blood test. I think the whole situation at Chessel is bordering on dangerous and putting peoples lives at risk. Its putting more pressure on A&E. I feel particularly sorry for the receptionists there with the abuse they get at times. The whole situation over there is the problem, not (always) the people. But I'm forever seeing different receptionists over there now as well! I wish we could go elsewhere or afford private!
