Chaldon Road surgery comprises a team of capable medical and administrative staff, who put patients first in the time and effort which they devote to meeting the many needs and requests from patients. With the constant pressure on human, physical and financial resources it is desirable that all medical staff are qualified to practice as many medical/clinical procedures as possible, to improve overall capability, efficiency and flexibility. Such training and improvement of skills will enable the practice to maximise the effectiveness of all clinical/medical staff. From personal experience such improvements could be in ensuring that all practice nurses are capable of taking blood, giving the multiplicity of injections and covering the full range of warfarin/INR procedures. There are undoubtedly more procedures in which staff could be qualified. It is a must, in a resource-limited environment that each resource can be used to the maximum. Front-line surgeries, such as Chaldon Road, can be best supported by reducing the amount of bureaucracy to the minimum and releasing finance and time for maximum front-line treatment. The Chaldon Road team deserve all the support they can receive from top clinical/medical and admin. management.
