Despite having to wait 50 minutes to actually get to speak to a receptionist I was given good advice and answer to my question.
I was advised to attend the surgery straight away to have my blood pressure checked by a member of the pharmacy. team. As my blood pressure was very high I was then seen very quickly by the paramedic Sue Hunter who was marvellous. She consulted Dr Perry and I was referred to A&E immediately.
I have nothing but praise for the surgery. Thank you.
I really do not mind if doctors are running late. 10 minute consultation slots are too short for proper patient care. But I do mind waiting for phlebotomy. Slots are in such short supply that I had to wait 12 days for a blood test. Scheduled for 8.10 a.m. Arrived in good time, phlebotomist already there. I am the first appointment but not seen until 8.30. Given that 7 minutes is probably all that is needed for a routine blood test that means a significant reduction in slots because of late running. It should have been possible to do three blood tests between 8.10 and 8.30, but only one was done. Excuse "the computer". I could only give three stars for the receptionists. Some are absolutely wonderful, knowledgeable, accommodating, helpful and efficient. Some are a great deal less so.
Dr Grimston - excellent!
Listened to me, then examined me, talking me through each stage. Not once did I feel that I was being rushed out, despite her being extremely busy. She contacted me later in the day with an update. Excellent communication and a nice lady.
