These Drs would be more suited to work within the prison service. Not one of them, even dr macgillvary is up to par. He is tired now and has, up to now, done the best he could, but the strain is telling and now he too is cutting corners in patient care and understanding. They are rude unpleasant, and have a superior attitude towards their patients. It’s inappropriate, and I do think that it’s time a new surgery was in Armadale. This bunch have no genuine interest in helping anyone but themselves to their big paypackets. Their patient list is made up of some of the poorest in Scotland, how could they possibly comprehend the problems of such people? . They treat them with disdain at best.

I have been with this surgery for 13 years. The doctors seemed compassionate in the early years, especially Dr McGilvery however I feel fobbed off every time by any other dictor. I was diagnosed with Spondylosis by a neck examination and told no point being referred for an X ray. No medication prescribed to ease the pain and was told to use heat pads and take ibuprofen. I have been concerned about memory problems for years which is getting progressively worse and have a family history of alzheimers but I am sneered at each time and told it's stress related?! No further tests offered like an MRI to investigate instead just sent on my way. I have lost feeling in my leg which led to fracturing my shoulder, I've stumbled and really hurt my wrist also but again, it doesn't concern them. I don't understand why they don't take time to really consider a patients symptoms like other practices have done in the past. You feel like you're rushed and in a timer. I'm seriously going to see about changing my GP now as it's getting ridiculous .

I have been attending this practice now for about 8 years since I moved to Armadale. My teenage son and I have been treated like liars and pieces of dirt once too often now and I think the majority of the GPs in this particular practice are just awful! For a start, you have to phone at 8am to get an appointment that day, however I have only ever managed to get through after about half an hour by which time the 'best' doctors appointments have gone. When you go in now, you get handed bits of photocopies paper telling patients that they must ONLY book appointments with the GP if need be, not to talk or 'minor ailments' and they have a 'minor ailments' clinic where a nurse will deal with patients! The GPs I have seen here make me feel like I am a liar, exaggerating, wasting their time and have no compassion whatsoever! My son also felt the same when he saw the GP (who he sees maybe once a year at most!!) - they told him there was nothing wrong with him, needs to get more fresh air etc. I really cannot believe how awful these doctors are, they have a cheek even calling themselves doctors as gone are the kind, compassionate ones of old - certainly in this practice! I will be trying to change practice asap if at all possible and will avoid seeing the GPs at this practice unless I am desperate!

On my own opinion there are only two Doctors that actually take the time to listen and look at your file then presenting you with as much of a diagnosis as the allotted Health Board Time will allow. Getting an appointment is terrible. You can try from 8.00 am pressing the redial button and if you are lucky to get through by 9.00 am you are then told that you will have to phone next day at 8.00 am, Doh. then if you want the doctor that knows your history it is 4 weeks but you must phone on a Monday morning or try the rat run at 8.00 am, Doh. I had to laugh at their web site recently where it said that there were 9 full time Doctors except for, and it went to name 5 doctors that were part time. Come on Armadale if Bathgate can run their operation like a general practice and you can't, get the staff that can make this surgery a place to be proud off.

I've been on this clincs register for 13 years, if there was another one in the area , I'd have moved, I've had a rascist remark from one doctor , one who was so rude I thought the person with me was going to have a fit. I've only seen one Dr at this surgery who is worthy of being called a Gp, and that is Dr MacGilvary, but getting an app with this man, is like winning the lottery, if you get the others, your stuffed. You might as well self diagnose, the doctors just sit there and say, 'well what do you want me to do about it? They have 13.000 patients on their register and don't want to expand, which is a shame as getting an appointment is usually a four week wait, it also can be 6 weeks. The area needs at least one more surgery in order to meet the needs of the area, but it also requires decent compassionate doctors, who actually care. This lot have become complacent, one lady doctor has left who actually did care , but I think it became too much for her, she was off sick a lot, probably depressed with her job with colleagues who spent most of their time doing very little to really help their patients. Just because you have the certificate does not make you a good doctor, you can't study for that!. By the way their phones are on silent from first thing In the morning and you will only get an app if you actually go to the surgery at that time. That's why you can't get through till 9.30 onwards.
