I called for an appointment as was having swelling behind one knee and shooting pain but receptionist said doctor will call you back. I waited until 4:30pm and no call back from doctor so called again and asked for an appointment. I spoke to the same receptionist Abbie who was not only extremely rude but also refused to give any appointments by saying they haven't got any appointments at this time of the day when it was only 4:30pm and said based on the symptoms I will have to wait for the doctor to call back. I am sorry but what qualifications she has that she is going to decide whether or not it was an emergency or routine. I finally had a call back from doctor at 6:15pm who had no choice of seeing me at that time so booked an appointment for next day morning. I not only suffered whole night with a lot of pain but also lost sleep. Saw a lovely doctor next morning who suspected of having a blood clot and organised ultrasound and put me on injections until scan is done. I m sorry once again but because of lack of knowledge of that receptionist I lost a day in being seen and that had also ruptured the swelling behind the knee leading more pain in the calf and left me very hard to do my day to day job. She should think I am not calling for an appointment for fun. I must have been in so much of pain that called again. Because of poor service from receptionists today and a few times in the past, patients are left in critical conditions and ends up in A&E. Doctors are always helpful and understanding but receptionists hold first impression which Abbey medical practice really need to invest in training and bring some empathy. Thank you.
