After many years on diclofenac I developed an ulcer and a tendency to reflux I do not take my 40mg every day but when the reflux strikes I take the omeprazole immediately then every morning for about a week, with occasional back up with Gaviscon. this I find keeps the reflux and pill popping under controll

I suffer from reflux and I produce lots of acid. These tablets really help cut the discomfort out. Before I had them I was getting lots of heartburn and discomfort but once I had 2 of these each night my symptoms have disappeared almost 100%.

I regret not taking this medicine, especially if I forgot a few days. When I am keeping up with my dose each day, I wouldn't know I'd got a problem.

I've suffered from gastick reflux for some time with effects such as cough and throat/chest problems that I thought were due to other causes. Normal antacids helped a bit but not enough. Omeprazole makes a real difference, particularly when taken at night when reflux (through sleeping/living down) makes the problem worse. One Omeprazole at night stops the reflux dead with no side effects for me.

I only said never to the last question as I am a patient not a Dr. and therefore I am not qualified to recommend prescription medicines

Profile

Omeprazole is used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems (such as acid reflux, ulcers). It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes. It relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and persistent cough. This medication helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers, and may help prevent cancer of the esophagus. Omeprazole belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
