I am pre-diabetic, well Impaired Glucose tolerance as they call it now.
I have been taking Metformin for a couple of years now and whilst my sugar levels did not rise they did not fall either but they had been stable for a few years whilst rather high, 6.1.
Metformin may have kept them stable but I cannot be sure. When I started exercising very regularly then my sugar levels dropped to 5.8 recently, below pre-diabetic levels.
My doctor has advised continued use of Metformin and we are looking at it as a long term view for the rest of my life to help stave off Diabetes Type 2 along with regular exercise.
