Zoton is one of many Proton pump inhibitors which turn off the natural acid into the stomach. For me it was prescribed for chronic inflammation of the gut. I stopped taking it for two years but started again using Pantoprazole , another of the same, to offset prescribed asprin an Nsaid which I was told not to take. I started regular visits to the GP for a host of complaints over another 2 year period before requesting a blood test for B12 deficiency. It was proved positive and now have take b12 injections. I recommend that anyone prescribed this medicine should be monitored for b12 as a matter of course. In my case it would have saved both me and the NHS a great deal of time trouble and expense.
