From the first appointment with Professor Jari, I felt I was in safe hands. I'd been referred by my physio after suffering with bone-on-bone knee arthritis for a few years. The attention to detail, explanation of the procedure and indeed the whole experience has been exceptional. The day of surgery was quite daunting, but all went well. Having started with my leg bowing at 5 degrees (by the time of my operation it was bowing to 14 degrees) Professor Jari managed to get my leg straight! I think using the CPM machine gave me a head start in recovery too (only used by Professor Jari). I had a 90-degree bend on the day after surgery. I was up and walking the day after surgery using crutches and did three flights of stairs! I started using a static bike for rehab four weeks after surgery and started with 6km a day, which is now 12km a day. My first ride outdoors was at four months, and I did 40km. At five months, my longest ride was 55km. I've recently done 272km in one week, including a few 12km indoor and others outdoor, varying from 55km to 74km. I'm now 9 months post op and have been discharged from the hospital. I would like to thank Professor Jari for what he has done for me. He has given me back a freedom I thought I'd lost. Thanks also to the lovely staff at Spire, to Sharon and all the nurses, and of course to Stephanie for being at the end of an email if I had any questions, which were answered very quickly. You've all helped me through a very emotional time, and I can't thank you all enough.
