I had an initial consultation with Mr Naque to discuss the Dupuytren’s contraction which had caused my right small finger to curl inward. Mr Naque took some time to explain the issue with the finger and the treatment required. On the day of the operation Mr Naqui came to my day room and again explain what would happen in surgery and that the operation would be done as agreed under local anaesthetic. The operation went really well and better than I had hoped, the only slight pain was the injection of the anaesthetic. The whole procedure was over in less than half an hour. Four days after the operation the dressing was replaced and although the finger was swollen the cut was minimal and the stitching was very neat. A week later the stitches were removed and new dressing applied. Over the next couple of months I attended the physiotherapy unit at Spires which was really beneficial in improving the healing process. The whole experience from start to finish was exceptionally good from the diagnosis , the operation and the physiotherapy. The result now is that there is no contraction in my finger and no noticeable scarring.
