I have just undergone a major hernia repair and the repair of a stomach muscle (5 hour operation) in Broomfield Hospital, performed by Mr Toby Hammond. Three years ago whilst in Broomfield Hospital for a kidney removal, I had an emergency operation for part removal of the bowel, again performed by Mr Toby Hammond, being the duty consultant at the time. I do not think it is an overstatement to say he saved my life. As a 73 year old fully paid up member of the coward's club, I very much appreciate Mr Hammond's calm, clear, compassionate explanation of procedures to be undertaken. His skill and expertise is beyond question. Toby Hammond is a caring dedicated surgeon and above all else a very personable, down to earth person. I cannot praise him enough and highly recommend him.
