I'm sorry to say, I did not have a good experience with Mr Hammond. I paid to see him for the initial consultation. I had been suffering from rectal bleeding and felt I was being fobbed off by my GP. I was booked in to have a flexi sig. I suffer with anxiety and IBS and told him this, but he refused to sedate me for the procedure. He was patronising, insisting that I would "be fine" and did not need sedation. I was the last person to be seen, being taken down at 10pm. I got the impression he just wanted to get me done quickly so he could go home - if you are sedated, the recovery can take a bit longer - Well I was not fine! It was extremely shocking, painful and traumatic. I was shaking and crying throughout. He also banded some haemorrhoids at the same time. I was sent away with strong painkillers and no follow up appointment. Well, a year later and my symptoms are now worse. I am back to square 1. I would absolutely not go back to Mr Hammond. I have paid to see a different colorectal specialist at a different hospital next week and am hoping I will get better care and understanding!
