I would like to express my deep felt gratitude to Mr Thomas Satyadas in Manchester Royal Infirmary. Mr Satyadas is my Consultant Surgeon. I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. The first time I met Mr Satyadas back in July 2015 I knew and felt that I was in good hands. He assured and gave me and my family the courage for the success of the operation which made me feel comfortable and safe. I didn’t feel he was my surgeon I felt he was my friend. The day of the operation I was restless as I didn’t know if I would see my family again but my Satyadas made me feel safe to proceed with the operation. After the operation Mr Satyadas came and saw me and my family almost every day which gave me the courage to recovery and support to my family, he was only a phone call away for any support. He would come and see me with his students, seeing him teaching his students was impressive and excellent as it shows Mr Satyadas’s commitment to human lives and their care. While I was in hospital I remember asking Mr Satyadas a question. I asked him “ I have seen you working 7 days a week don’t you go home?”, Mr Satyadas replied I quote “Hospital is my home, Patients are my family that’s why I am here to look after my families”. This impressed me so much and made me realised as to what a great human being he is. I hope there are more humans like Mr Thomas Satyadas. Before I was discharged Mr Satyadas made sure I was stocked up with medications and wound bandages for at least 2 weeks for me to take home. After I was discharged Mr Satyadas ensured I was in regular contact with him even if he was busy he would see me. He made sure district nurses were arranged for my medications and wounds or any other relevant care needed for at least 3 months. When attend for appointments arranged with my convenient time or late Mr Satyadas ensured he would see me before I leave the Hospital. Mr Satyadas’ s secretaries Sister Adele Mcneillie, Sister Claire Newton, The HDU team, Ward 8 sisters gave me the best care and have been excellent and supportive for my recovery. I feel that it is due to his actions and care I am alive and in recovery from Pancreatic Cancer. His input in my care plan since the initial diagnosis has been excellent and still is to this date. Me and my family have received so much help and support from Mr Thomas Satyadas. I will always remember what he has done for me for as long as I am alive and feel indebted for my life to him. Thank you Mr. M. Hammad Hospital No: M01/19004
